Last night was a rough night for Steven as he was in a lot of pain. This means he is on a lot of pain medicine today and feeling groggy. They wanted to give him an epidural but could not do it today because the nurse had already given him a blood thinner so he needs to wait 24 hours. The pain team promised they will see Steven first tomorrow unless an emergency happens and they have to go to the OR first.
Steven continues to be a trooper. Hopefully the epidural works tomorrow and we can move to another room. We overheard that they want to move him from the ICU today because they need the bed but the nurse said they'd have to fight Dr. T if they want to move him because Dr. T wants Steven to stay in the ICU until his pain is under control. Steven wants to stay in the ICU so I am prepared to make a fuss if need be.

I have faith the epidural will do wonders for Steve tomorrow. It made a BIG difference once I got mine. It sucks he has to wait until tomorrow! If you feel the ICU is the best place for Steve, put up a fuss. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, right? Remember that this is a long journey and if you compare day by day it will seem like you see no improvement. I suggest you compare week by week instead :) xoxox

ReplyDeleteI've been keeping myself updated, sounds like a rollercoaster, but glad to hear you're both staying strong. I hope the epidural helps with Stevens pain, and I'm fighting for him to stay in the ICU :). I'm proud of both of you for getting through this together, you guys are an inspiration. Can't wait for you to come home so I can finally meet James and have a good catch up with you both. Give Steven a huge hug for me! Miss you loads, lots of love. Naomi
