A White Christmas

We met with Dr T this morning. Steven is doing good. If all goes well they may remove the vacuum from his incision sometime next week. Steven is going for a CT scan today because he still has a fever. Overall, Dr T seems happy with Steven's progress; however, I think we will be having a white Christmas this year.

Dr T thinks Steven will be a couple weeks in the hospital still. Happy Shelley suggested we celebrate Christmas in January, we will do this on both sides.

Phillip was here earlier this week and Steven really enjoyed the visit. Steven was also up and walking 3 times yesterday! The progress is slow and steady... and probably not as fast as Steven would like it.

Love Tracy

  1. Tracy and Steven, you guys are amazing! A few others have mentioned it and please add me to the list of those pointing out that we need to be thanking you both for your courage and inspiration. Your journey has truly been a lesson to us all. THANK YOU! Even with the hiccups, it seems that overall progress has been excellent. You and your extended families are in my thoughts and prayers everyday for new successes everyday. Look out 2013 - here come the Cargos!
Side note for Tracy - one day I will try to leave just one space between sentences as a great Employment Counsellor once suggested I do - to keep up with the times :)...)

    1. Funny you mention that Claudia because with the iPhone you leave two spaces to get a period. You are ahead of the times :)

  2. No matter where or when we celebrate Christmas you will all be in our thoughts. So go out and make some snow angels. Tell Steven that the tortoise won the race not the hare so there is no need to rush things along as annoying as it might be to be in the hospital. Love Jenni

  3. We will be thinking of you on the 25th but this year Christmas will be whenever we are all together. Ashley is going to be so excited to have two Christmas'! I also assume that means another turkey dinner and Christmas cookies in January... Ethel? ;-)

  4. Great job on the walking, Steve. I know it doesn't sound like a lot of work to many people but that is a true battle! Keep it up, as it is so good for your recovery (as you are well aware). Sorry to hear you have to stay longer. The good news is you will be around to see Dr. Temple's Christmas hats! Haha Not sure if you have heard but he wears funny hats during the holiday season. I would offer to bring you a nice turkey dinner but I think we will be hanging out at the hospital as well. I hope you are doing okay emotionally, as I am sure the frustration and the slow recovery is starting to get hard at this point. I think about you every single day. Tracy, your post about not taking your bed for granted is sooooo true!! When you are in the hospital and sick it really is the small things you miss. Eating a nice meal without pain, sleeping in a bed with your spouse, the complete silence without machines, and your own bathroom!!! The one positive thing about this experience is you will really appreciate those things.
