It has been a few days since I have been inspired to post; however, a text from Steven this morning has me eager to share the news! He said ""Good news today. Drs were here on rounds and back again with Dr. T. They took out the chest tube and going to clamp the g-tube". The g-tube has been emptying his stomach, so clamping it off means that for the first time in over a week Steven might be able to eat. He also says he can breath more freely with the chest tube out.
It also looks like Steven might get a private room which would be ideal. Especially when we bring James in with his stroller to visit.
My morning is off to a great start and I hope everyone else is having an equally good day. I will post again later.
Love Tracy
Amazzzzzzing news!!! This is my favorite post so far of yours!! Thank you for sharing, I can feel the positive energy just beaming off of the page. :) YAY! Love you all. xo.
ReplyDeleteOh Tracy! What good news! I too can feel the positive energy coming through! Steven must feel like he is making some progress towards getting well. How nice for Jennifer to be there for such good news. A wonderful start for a good day for everyone who loves Steven. My friend Tina is following this blog. She doesn't know how to post but she wants you to know she sends her best. I gave her your facebook name so she may post there. Her son Scott went through treatment there in Calgary and he has been one year in remission. I know everyone is different but she wanted to share hope with you.My love to all of you there and give Styeven hugs from me. and of course hugs for you and my darling baby James. And my sister of course <3 xoxoxox
ReplyDeleteWonderful news for everyone. Just think, Steven, food, real food, and who knows, maybe that special drink from McDonald's. We are going to miss you both tonight - the Christmas party at the Career Centre, but we will all be thinking of you - you have been uppermost in all our thoughts. Take care and love you all........kiss darling baby James.
ReplyDeleteI hope he does get a private room!! It will make it sooo much easier once he has to start using the bathrooms there. Also much better for him getting rest and you and James visiting him! :)
ReplyDeleteOnce that g-tube and the chest tubes come out, it makes SUCH a difference. You start to feel more like yourself. :) Hey, when they let him eat tell him to start slowly? When I was allowed back on foods I should have been on fluids, then slowly building back up to other foods. They gave me tuna salad sandwich and vegetables my body couldn't process yet! There's not always the best communication between the Dr. orders and the kitchen there, so bug the nurses to double check. For me that ended in about a week of vomiting so if I can hopefully help you guys avoid that YAY.
Once he is eating regular food again while still in the hospital you -can- ask if you can bring certain meals from home, instead of eating hospital food. My mom brought soups and homemade meals for a few days and it made a world of difference. <3 <3
Great tips thanks Apis. He is on fluids so far. It was great to be there for his first sip of coffee (even if it was black).
DeleteSo proud of you Steven for the battle you are fighting. Cancer does not stand a chance against you with you determination and all the love and support you have behind you. Tons of love Aunty Donna.
