Winter Wonderland

Morning,

John and Ethel had a good visit with Steven last night and he even managed to talk to Jennifer and me on the phone. This morning we make the decision about the epidural so we need to get to the hospital soon to make sure we don't miss the pain team. My mom visited with Steven yesterday and would have received a nice hug if the bed wasn't so high.

We awoke to a winter wonderland in Calgary or "Siberia" as Ethel says.

I'll update again later.

Love Tracy

  1. I hope Steven has a window so he can see that snow! It's beautiful but tell Ethel I'm with her. Hopefully we'll see some Instagram shot of James in the snow...or at least the snowsuit! Hoping all went well with the pain management team today. The blog is amazing and Tracy you are a beautiful writer. I didn't know that before cause all I ever read of yours was work stuff. Memory keeping like this is good for the heart and soul, not only yours but everyone you are sharing with. Thanks for that.

  2. My sister told me about the snowfall last night, stay warm! Once they move Steven to a room hopefully he can be near the window so he can look out and the the snow. :)
I was on the inside part of the room, so what we did was post photos of our son and emails/ postcards/ cards from friends on the back of the door so I could look at them all day/ night and not feel lonely when people weren't visiting.

Sounds like Steven is doing amazingly well! I hope they get his pain under control. Don't be afraid of asking for more pain relief!! The idea is that he isn't in pain so that he can get up and walking, getting everything working in there. <3

Thinking of you guys! Hope James is loving the snow.

  3. Hey team!

Just found out about this blog - so glad to finally have a place to keep up with you guys and a means of showing all my love and support. You're without a doubt in my thoughts daily so it's great to be able to communicate the love. Every scrap of positive energy I've got is in the westerly winds towards you both! Miss you guys like crazy and wish I was there to throw around some big bear hugs! (Well maybe not with baby James...might have to be a wee bit gentler with that one for now...) Speaking of which, I can't wait to meet him! Consider yourselves warned...I've been known to steal the cute ones.
At least I can imagine myself being a little closer as Montreal is looking like Siberia right around now too! The winter is just setting in so the days sit around -10 or so. Makes the half hour trek to campus/the library a bit nippy! Studying like crazy as I've had a pretty intense semester with a bunch of papers and more readings than I can wrap my head around. Only 1 more 15 page research paper and a little analysis left before I can throw all my energy into final exams. My first is in a week! Still adoring my Political Science major - just can't get enough of the classes though they provide a heavy work load! Tentative plan is to pair it with a double minor in history and international development, a program that combines economics, sociology of states, and (you guessed it!) more political science.
Do you guys have a place I can send my Christmas card? If so, shoot it over to mum and she can pass it along. If not, no worries! I will definately be sending my Christmas wishes over the blog as well so that will suffice! Think they'll let you guys do a little decorating? My vote? Go over the top.

All my love to my (practically) family. Wish I was there to express it in person. Keep being amazing! Thank you so much for this blog idea - I'm glad to be in the loop and able to show support every step of the way.
